Barcelona attracts every year around 9 million visitors from all over the world. Most of them arrive by plane, but there are also others ways to get into the city; By car from the Costa Brava, one of Catalonia?s mayor tourism hotspot. The train is another important way to get in the city from France or other cities in Spain. Cruise ships of course also bring in many people. For those choosing the plane to get into Barcelona I will dedicate this blog, explaining how to get in the city centre from the Barcelona airport.

There are 3 ways to get into the centre of Barcelona:

  1. By Taxi
  2. By Aerobus
  3. By Train
  4. By Metro
  5. By Private luxery transfer

1.By Taxi

By Taxi is most convenience, with as biggest advantage that you will be dropped off at your hotel or any other place you wish to go. Both at terminal 1 (T1) and terminal 2 (T2) you will find taxis waiting for you. Where a taxi might be expansive in your country, here in Barcelona the prices are not that bad. An easy calculation is to count ?1,- per minute. To get into the city centre from the airport it will take you around 30 minutes, which will get to a taxi fare between ?25,- and ?35,- The price varies depending on week or weekend days and nightshifts. There is also a small supplement per suitcase, around ?1,- per piece. If you are traveling with a bigger party of around 6 persons, there are also taxi?s available. These taxis with more capacity can charge a small supplement too.

2.By Aerobus

These comfortable bleu busses are waiting for you outside the arrival halls of T1 and T2. The Aerobus will take you within 35 minutes to the citycentre. The buses come and go every 5 minutes, so don?t worry if you she one driving away, another bus will come soon. The tickets you can buy at the bus itself for ?5,90 (price in 2016). The bus is equipped with extra storage space for your luggage and has comfortable chairs. The bus has 3 different point where you can step out at Plaza Catalunya (city centre) and 3 other stops from Plaza Catalunya to the airport.

The aerobus is an ideal way to get in the city. The only downside is that you won?t be dropped at you hotel, so make sure you know how to get to your hotel from where ever you decide to get out of the bus. For the way back to the airport it?s important to look at the Terminal ndicator on the bus. As each bus will only go to one of the airport terminals.

3.By Train

The train is also a very good way of transport to get to the city centre. The train is also the cheapest (?2,50 p.p.) options and will take you in 30 minutes to Station Sants or Station Psg. De Gracia. The train leaves from T2, so if you arrive at T1 you will have to take one of the freeshuttle buses to get to T2. This ride will take around 10 minutes and they pass by every 5 minutes. At the train station you will find big automatic ticket venders to get your ticket. You will have to travel 2 zones, so make sure your ticket is for 2 zones. After checking in your ticket, it will be valid for another 90 minutes for any kind of other public transport in the city.

4.Metro L9

Since 2016 there is also a new metro line that leaves from T1 and T2. This metro line (9) though will not get you to the city centre and is only of use if you stay in one of Barcelona suburbs or in the University Zone, where the metro ends. There are connections with other metro lines, but this will take way longer than any of the other mentioned options.

5. Luxery private transfer

You can also contact Robbcn to ask for the prices of a private minivan pick up. The driver will wait for you at the arrival hall with your name sign and will take you directly to your hotel.

See you soon in Barcelona
